Managing Client's Records - Good Practice for Collecting, Retaining and Handling Information Sharing Requests
This workshop will develop the learner’s confidence as well as their knowledge and understanding on how to collect and retain client’s information ethically and legally.
Independent service providers supporting vulnerable victims-survivors of sexual violence often feel uncertain or even overwhelmed when knowing how to respond to police and court requests for client records. Without doubt there are clear power imbalances between service providers and the criminal justice system which can leave practitioners feeling unsure on how to proceed.
The training will dispel myths about note-taking and information sharing practices and provide a clear pathway for implementing good practice in to records management especially following disclosures of sexual violence.
Furthermore, learners will be clear about how to professionally challenge inappropriate requests for client data from external agencies as well as recognise their limitations with challenging too.
Our training ethos is based on delivering survivor-focused services where the importance of safeguarding and victims’ rights are the central focus.
