Webinar: The Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) – What is the government’s response so far?

The Survivors Trust proudly hosted this important webinar on 19th June in collaboration with Act on IICSA, a panel of leading experts from the legal, civil service, and specialist sexual violence and abuse sectors.

The Survivors Trust is the UK’s national umbrella organisation for specialist agencies supporting everyone affected by sexual violence. Representing over 120 member services and reaching more than 150,000 survivors each year, we are committed to ensuring that the voices of survivors remain at the heart of national conversations.

With a long-standing relationship with IICSA, The Survivors Trust was involved as a consultant throughout the Inquiry’s duration. We are proud to host the ACT on IICSA campaign group, chaired by Professor Alexis Jay, former Chair of the Inquiry, and John O’Brien, former Secretary to the Inquiry.

ACT on IICSA works closely with ministers to support the full and effective implementation of the Inquiry’s final recommendations. With the leadership of those who oversaw the Inquiry and shaped its conclusions, the group offers an unparalleled depth of understanding to help ensure the intended impact is achieved.

ACT on IICSA hosted a webinar with a panel discussion to examine the UK Government’s response to the IICSA recommendations to date

This timely event did:

  • Assess the alignment between ministerial statements and actual outcomes.
  • Review the progress of recommendations currently being implemented, and ask whether they are sufficiently robust to deliver meaningful change.
  • Highlight areas where progress has stalled, and explore what must be done to ensure the full implementation of IICSA’s vision.

While we remain committed to constructive dialogue, we are increasingly concerned by the lack of momentum and clarity in key areas. This webinar will provide a space for open, informed discussion on how to move forward – urgently and effectively.

The event was a candid discussion and relevant to the current political climate, so we invited to ask questions beforehand and opened up the floor.

With thanks from Act On IICSA to Switalskis and The Survivors Trust for hosting this event.
