2026 Victims’ Survey: Survey extended to 20 May

Have you been a victim of crime in the past five years? Whether you reported the crime to the police or chose not to, the Victims’ Commissioner would like to hear from you. The Victims’ Commissioner for England and Wales, Claire Waxman OBE, has launched the 2026 Victim Survey to gather insights into victims’ experiences of crime, support services, and the criminal justice system.

The survey is open until 6 May 2026. It is anonymous, takes around 15 minutes, and is open to anyone aged 16+ who has experienced or reported a crime since January 2021.

Every victim’s experience matters. Whether you reported the crime to the police or chose not to, your insight is vital in helping us understand what is working and where change is urgently needed. I encourage all victims to take part in this year’s survey so that your voice can shape the improvements and reforms that will better support victims in the future.

Claire Waxman OBE, the Victims’ Commissioner for England and Wales

This year’s survey builds on previous findings and aims to include the experiences of a wider range of victims. In particular, it seeks to better understand the perspectives of those who did not engage with the police or criminal justice system, to ensure their voices are represented and heard.

The Victims’ Commissioner has partnered with TONIC, a social research organisation specialising in criminal justice research, to conduct the 2026 survey.
