We welcome the publication of the consultation response analysis on the proposed Child Protection Authority (CPA). The findings demonstrate strong support for the need for greater national leadership, improved coordination, stronger use of evidence and learning, and better accountability across the child protection system. These are issues that survivors, campaigners and professionals in the sector have been raising for many years.
The establishment of a CPA was a key recommendation of the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA), and we are encouraged by the Government’s continued commitment to taking this forward. While the detail of the Authority’s powers, independence and effectiveness will be critical, we look forward to engaging constructively as the proposals evolve to help ensure the CPA delivers meaningful change for children and survivors.
