The Survivors Trust’s Response to the Consultation on the Child Protection Authority

We have prepared a comprehensive draft response, including explanations for each question where applicable. We encourage everyone to submit a response. We are sharing this in the hope that it will be helpful for your own submissions — please feel free to draw from it directly, adapt it, or tweak it as needed.

The CPA’s scope and remit out for consultation until this Friday, 5 March. In February, we held an online webinar to explore what an effective CPA should look like and how you can meaningfully contribute to the consultation. You can watch it back.

As for the consultation, you don’t need to answer every question. You can respond only to those areas that are most relevant to you or to your organisation.

Please submit a response. It is important that the CPA is established within the current parliamentary session. Once established, it can be improved and shaped over time. However, if it does not progress now, there is a real risk that the proposal could fall away, and we may lose the momentum and progress achieved to date.

The deadline for submissions is 11:59pm on 5 March 2026.

We hope you find the document useful, and thank you in advance for engaging with the process.
