Collaborating with The Grind

A huge thank you to The Grind Café for standing with survivors and raising awareness of our work. The viral video posted by them this week sparked an important discussion about the prevalence of sexual violence in our society. Among the comments were an estimated 2000 disclosures from survivors, with the majority saying they can’t get or don’t know where to get, help for the trauma inflicted on them. In response to the massive publicity their video has attracted, The Grind have issued the following press release: https://thesurvivorstrust.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Press-Release-The-Grind-Survivors-Trust-002.pdf

This is a timely opportunity to highlight that 1 in 4 people in the UK will experience sexual violence, with over 13 million adult survivors currently. Despite an overwhelming increase in demand for our services, funding has significantly decreased. Waiting lists for counselling are ever increasing leaving traumatised victims and survivors struggling to find support.

The Survivors Trust remains steadfast in its mission to challenge the stigma and shift the culture surrounding sexual violence and sexual abuse, advocating for all people of all ages. Awareness is a powerful tool in driving change, and the collective support of communities plays a vital role in creating a safer world. Any funding that supports us in continuing this vital work is always welcome.

For information about our work or how to support our cause, we encourage you to explore our website, contact our team or, if you would like support for you or someone you know impacted by sexual violence, call our confidential, freephone helpline on 0808 801 0818. The number will not appear on itemised bills.

We thank everyone for their continued efforts in raising awareness and standing with survivors.
