CEO Fay Maxted OBE responds to draft VAWG strategy concerns following Sky News report

Following the recent story from Sky News about a draft proposal from the Home Office to remove “CSA and CSE” from the yet to be published VAWG strategy, our CEO, Fay Maxted OBE has made the following statement. As soon as more information is available, The Survivors Trust will provide another update.

Many TST member organisations have contacted me over the last few days concerned about the Sky News report detailing possible changes and fragmentation in the government’s VAWG strategy. The Survivors Trust shares this concern and have written to the Home Office for urgent clarification.

The report has rightly caused great concern and confusion amongst organisations supporting victims of violence and abuse at an already uncertain time. I urge the Home Office to publish its proposed new strategy without further delay and engage with organisations within the specialist sexual violence sector to ensure that it is effective in protecting and supporting ALL victims and survivors.

Fay Maxted OBE, 17th August 2025
