Meet our Trainers
Helen
Training and Development Manager
Helen Jackson has worked with survivors of rape and sexual abuse and their families for over 15 years, managing Sexual Assault Referral Centre services and supporting victims of sexual violence in the voluntary and statutory sector. Helen has previously worked in Community Mental Health and is a qualified Independent Sexual Violence Adviser who has supported survivors through the criminal justice system, at court and beyond.
She has developed and delivered TST Level 4 ISVA Practitioner Diploma, ChISVA Training and ISVA Service Manager training for the last 5 years. Helen has experience in delivering dynamic and impactful training to the Police, Social Services, Mental Health teams, NHS, Universities, Colleges and Schools and is experienced in overseeing helpline services and training and recruiting volunteers as well as developing services and engaging with multiple partner agencies.
With 16 years teaching experience, she is passionate about developing specialist services to meet survivor’s support needs with a holistic, trauma informed and person-centred focus. She is PTLLS trained.
Liz
Training Project Manager
Liz has been overseeing The Survivors Trust’s ISVA development training and is now responsible for the delivery of our Employers Against Abuse training programme.
Liz also delivers #CheckWithMeFirst, a training for healthcare practitioners and patient-facing staff that equips them with the tools to provide trauma-informed care for survivors.
She also delivers some bespoke training sessions focused on domestic abuse and stalking. Liz is a qualified IDVA and Stalking Advocate and have worked for 14 years in the Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) sector in various roles.
Lucy
Policy Advisor and Trainer
Lucy co-created #CheckWithMeFirst, a training programme designed to help NHS staff adopt trauma-informed approaches when working with patients. She contributes to awareness initiatives with universities and designs and delivers bespoke trauma-informed training packages for the public, voluntary, and private sectors.
Lucy is also TST’s Policy Adviser, dedicated to improving victim support and preventing sexual violence. A trained teacher with an MSc in psychotherapy, Lucy’s studies focused on the effects of childhood trauma. She served on the Victims and Survivors Consultative Panel (VSCP) at the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) and is Secretary to the ACT on IICSA campaign group.
Linda
Training and Development Consultant
Linda has more than 10 years’ experience of training Independent Sexual Violence Advisers (ISVAs) and ISVA Service Managers on a national basis. She understands how challenging these roles can be with along with the levels of responsibility and accountability they come with having managed specialist rape and sexual abuse support agencies in the voluntary sector.
Linda has provided training on many levels during her career as a manager. She is PTLLS trained as well as being a relationships and sex education training provider and an accredited parenting practitioner. Linda creates bespoke training packages for schools, colleges and universities as well as bespoke sexual harassment training to organisations from all sectors. More importantly Linda works with a client centric focus and offers good practice advice and tips when working with professionals and agencies. She has trained frontline responders in the police and the NHS as well as helpline services set within a range of organisations.
