The Survivors Trust is thrilled to announce that we’re one of the thousands of organisations taking part in this year’s #GivingTuesday campaign, the global day of generosity, to be held on the 3rd of December.
The campaign began in America in 2012 as a way to give back after the well-known shopping days of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The campaign is coordinated in the UK by the Chartered Institute of Fundraising.
There are numerous ways to get involved: donating to charity, volunteering or simply helping a friend, neighbour or family member. For Giving Tuesday this year, alongside encouraging people to give and support charities, there will be a celebration of our shared pride in the amazing generosity that we see all around us – showcasing all the different ways people support charities and communities and highlighting the difference it makes.
Giving Tuesday has become a huge global movement. In 2022, Giving Tuesday trended No.1 on Twitter, with prominent messages of support from the Minister for Civil Society, Stuart Andrew MP, as well as NatWest, high-street companies, and England Men’s football captain, Harry Kane.
We at The Survivors Trust are really excited about the prospect of taking part in this year’s Giving Tuesday. We understand that the prevalence of sexual violence can be disheartening, and tackling it can seem like a daunting task. This is why we are so grateful to all of our supporters who raise much needed funds and awareness for our cause. For Giving Tuesday, we want to celebrate our supporters and highlight how their contribution has allowed us to continue our work supporting services to provide the best quality of care to survivors of sexual violence.
Claire Stanley, Giving Tuesday UK Campaign Lead at the Chartered Institute of Fundraising, adds:
“It is our mission at the Chartered Institute of Fundraising to champion fundraising and grow giving – which is why we are so pleased to be a part of the Giving Tuesday movement. Giving Tuesday is about celebrating generosity and charitable giving – and more than that, it is about encouraging people to get involved through volunteering, donating, sponsoring or hosting an event. We hope that through Giving Tuesday, people can start to build life-long links to causes close to their hearts. This year’s theme of Give Your Way sets out to highlight all the ways people can get involved in Giving Tuesday and beyond – and we are looking forward to showcasing some examples of this in the weeks leading up to the big day.”
